As seen below in the official gamescom 2018 trailer for Battlefield 5, DICE and Electronic Arts’ “Devastation of Rotterdam” video first gives players an overview of the type of combat one should expect to encounter in the rubble of the obliterated city with a chaotic mix of tanks, aerial attacks from planes, gunplay, melee kills, and more. Those who stick around toward the end of the footage, though, will be given a sneak peek of what the shooter’s Battle Royale will look like, as what appears to include a rain of fire slowly closing in on players’ positions as they fight for survival....

In a call with investors and analysts, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said that the company had thought about making Battlefield 6 a PS5 and Xbox Project Scarlett launch title. The next game will be doing things that other Battlefield games haven’t done and Wilson also said that it would be “cutting edge.” Wilson also said that EA saw that “launching into the next-gen platforms was going to offer tremendous opportunity for innovation” but the company chose not to release Battlefield 6 in holiday 2020 when the new consoles launch for one good reason....

DICE and Electronic Arts recently announced that Battlefield V will be available for free on weekends throughout the month of October. Players can download and play the game during any of the three free to play weekends starting from October 10 to October 13. The second free weekend will start from October 17, while the final weekend begins on October 24. All three of the free weekends are exclusively available on Origin, which means only PC players will be able to enjoy the free weekends....

As is seen in the video posted by Gabrielson, when fans log into Battlefield 5, they will immediately receive the Oscar Mike Helmet and Oscar Mike Emblem. According to an accompanying press release, the names of the items are taken from “military radio jargon used on the front lines” in World War 2. To receive these items, players will need to log into the game within the first week of its release and then the helmet and the emblem will appear in their shipments in the Armory....
