There has been a lot of pressure on the BCCI president to quit after his son-in-law, Gurunath Meiyappan, was arrested for alleged involvement in the IPL betting scandal. The working committee consists of a few important members of BCCI. It is believed that this is taken as a compromise step by Srinivasan in order to ensure that he gets an honourable exit, and also make sure that he leaves some glimpses of hope for a comeback in future.
