EA recently held a quarterly earnings call in which it shared with shareholders several details about its various franchises. According to Axios’ Stephen Totilo, EA has officially confirmed just how many players participated in Battlefield 2042’s open beta. The Battlefield 2042 beta reached a total of 7.7 million gamers across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Stephen Totilo was quick to point out that Battlefield 1 also had a successful beta before it was released back in 2016. Totilo stated that EA confirmed Battlefield 1’s beta drew in a total of 13.2 million players, significantly more than the troubled Battlefield 2042 beta. It’s currently unclear why Battlefield 1 drew in more beta testers than Battlefield 2042, but it may be due to the game’s unique World War 1 setting and Battlefield 2042’s lack of Battlefield Portal during the beta.

While Battlefield fans may be impressed with how many players the Battlefield 2042 open beta drew, Stephen Totilo confirmed the success of another EA franchise alongside his tweet about Battlefield. According to Totilo, Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes has reached over 100 million players, showing the reach of free mobile games. It’s unknown if EA intends to make more free-to-play mobile titles as a result of Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes or if it will divert more resources to the team developing the game.

Battlefield 2042 releases in a matter of weeks and EA continues to confirm various aspects about the next title in the Battlefield series. It recently detailed various aspects of Battlefield Portal, showing off content from Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 1942 that players can mix and match while customizing their ideal Battlefield experience. With more information coming out about the upcoming Battlefield, EA may reach even more than 7.7 million players when Battlefield 2042 officially releases.

Although Battlefield 2042’s open beta was able to reach several million fans, it remains to be seen how many players who tried the game’s beta will purchase it. It’s also currently unclear how many classic Battlefield fans may pick up Battlefield 2042 despite not trying the beta. Battlefield 2042’s Portal mode may be significant in drawing in lapsed fans as it lets players customize their ideal Battlefield match.

Battlefield 2042 releases for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on November 19.
